The TLM Level 3 Certificate in Human Factors in Emerging Technologies builds on prior study of digital systems and ethics by developing deeper knowledge of how human behaviour, organisational culture, and governance shape the safe and responsible use of technology.

Qualification

On successful completion of the course you will be receive a Nationally recognised Level 2 Certificate in Human Factors in Emerging Technologies.

Course Content (inclusive but not limited to:)

Learners develop applied understanding of human factors, organisational learning and responsible technology practices within complex and emerging tech environments. The course emphasises investigation, judgement, review processes and cultural improvement, preparing learners for higher-level study or workplace roles involving safety, systems thinking and leadership behaviours.

Key content includes:

  • Investigating incidents in complex technological environments

    • Distinguishing technical faults, human error and systemic failure

    • Gathering and analysing evidence using structured techniques

    • Producing fair, factual reports that drive learning and improvement

  • Review groups for safety, quality and system performance

    • Preparing and prioritising issues for structured review

    • Facilitating constructive discussion and trend analysis

    • Turning decisions into actions and supporting cultural consistency

  • Reporting culture & organisational learning

    • Understanding barriers to reporting and the role of leadership

    • Encouraging open communication, transparency and accountability

    • Using reporting data for risk reduction and strategic improvement

This qualification builds well-developed judgement, evaluative skills and independence, enabling learners to apply human factors principles to real-world technology settings. It supports progression to higher-level study and employment in roles requiring safety awareness, systems thinking, team coordination or responsible innovation.

The course requires 144 guided learning hours.
