TLM Level 3 Award in Overhead Crane Operations / QAN 603/7736/7

Our Ofqual-regulated Level 3 Award in Overhead Crane Operations equips professional operators with the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to work safely, protect others, and understand the operational risks associated with the crane types they are authorised to use. In addition, the qualification explores a wide range of units that reinforce workplace health and safety, explain relevant industry legislation, and strengthen best practices essential for modern lifting operations.

Qualification

On successful completion of the course you will be receive a Nationally recognised Level 3 Award of Professional Competence in understanding the principles, practice, safe use, and operation of Overhead Cranes.

Course Content (inclusive but not limited to:)

  • Current health and safety legislation applicable to an Overhead Crane Operator

  • Employer’s duties applicable to Overhead Cranes             

  • Employee’s duties applicable to Overhead Cranes  

  • Frequency of inspections needed for Overhead Cranes

  • Principles of risk assessment applicable to an Overhead Cranes

  • Hazards and how to reduce the potential for accidents applicable to Overhead Cranes

  • Varied movement, controls and attachments that may be fitted to Overhead Cranes

  • Lifting, lowering, movement and controls of Overhead Cranes

  • Safe handling of loads

Duration

  • 8 Hours Guided Learning – including classroom and physical assessment.

  • 10 Hours Total Qualification Time

Group Size

As the teaching and assessment is tailored to the individual the group size will not exceed 3 candidates. (Courses will comply with current Covid-19 Government guidelines).
