TLM Level 3 Certificate in Cyber Security Principles
The Level 3 Certificate in Cyber Security Principles designed for students who have an interest in digital security and the threats to IT systems and as a coherent progression from a Level 2 qualification in CyberSecurity.
It is designed to give them a broad understanding of open systems so they can understand the threats to IT systems and how to counter them. It would suit any students interested in working in the growing industry related to cyber security, but also students interested in general employment involving IT, networking professions, infrastructure management and data management.
Course Content (inclusive but not limited to:)
Unit 1 – Understanding cyber security and online threats
Understanding the range and variety of cyber threats
Analyse and detail the types of threat currently in operation
Evaluate the impact of threats on various individuals and organisations
Unit 2 – Analysis and evaluation of threats
Understand the parts of a system that are attacked
Analyse and detail the parts of a system that are attacked
Evaluate how and why systems are attacked
Unit 3 – Application and deployment of security tools and best practice
Understand the tools used for cyber security
Plan, use and practice with common cyber forensic tools
Evaluate the tools used and recommend best practices
Unit 4 – Extended Project – Defending an online system
Research a working cyber security system
Plan to build a cyber safe web site or server
Develop a cyber safe web site or server
Test the system against common threats
Evaluate the effectiveness of the system
Assessment
A digital portfolio showcasing the learner’s digital forensic skill and understanding
A small cyber security simulation project to test practical knowledge
